Do the math

It occurred to me tonight that I know well over forty people who have gotten married since I graduated in May of 2004. This does not include those merely engaged since my departure, or those married not long before. To quote Matt, "It is not normal."
PS
Will thinks this post is rather musing. The difference between the Coast and Flyover Country cultures?
Possibly, but I've got a feeling that those numbers are above average even for us in the middle.
I think it's creepy.
We are out to bend your minds!
In an different generation, the fact that fewer than half of your friends were married by age 23 would have been cause for alarm.
I've noticed a pretty strong correlation between the number of friends I have who married young and the number who don't believe in sex outside of marriage. Just about everyone at our church my age is married; almost none of my co-workers my age are. Geography could play some role, since my church is in the super-suburban "Inland Empire", and most of my co-workers live in more urban areas, but still...
There was also a generation in which it would have been cause for alarm were fewer than half my friends maried at 17.
My thoughts on the matter waver somewhere between Rhiannon's sentiment and "How'd I get left behind," depending on the day.
my bro has asked his girl friends fathers hand in marriage. They are planning a wedding in March. He doesn't turn 20 til May. Get some of the Sato family you bachelors.
"my bro has asked his girl friends fathers hand in marriage." Well...uh...I hope your "bro" is quite happy with your girl friend's father, I am sure they will make a lovely couple.
Badabing!
I think Amy has hit it on the head. It is undoubtedly strongly tied to moral views. In America today, moral views may correlate with geography, but we all know that correlation is not causation.
But that bro & dad thang won't fly in today's "Kinder, Gentler Jr." America, what?
Not for TMI ... but I have no problem with pre-marital sex ... and I will be married before I turn 26 ... to my 22 year old groom.
Overheard at the Slater-Boyd affair: "Marriage is the new black."
I just go married. I am 28. I didn't engage in pre-marital sex. A long wait. I can see why people with such values get married younger. ;oP
