In which Nelson Mandela's life work is destroyed by a 15 year-old Japanese girl

The other day, my third-year teacher approaches me and says, "Would you do a culture time for the next lesson? Something about maybe a Nobel Prize winner, or somebody that everyone all over the world respects?" Sure thing. This most recent unit my third years studied is titled "Stevie Wonder: The Power of Music." A page of the chapter is devoted to the song, "It's Wrong (Apartheid)." Nelson Mandela. Piece of cake. On my cut-it-paste-it-print-it-off "Culture Time" sheet, I paste in a picture from his Wikipedia entry. Public schools here still technologically being stuck in 1994 (one of the two computers in the staff office connected to the internet has a sticker that says "Designed for Windows 95/NT"), I toss the worksheet onto the ditto machine (the kind that's like a mini printing press, not a photocopier), and hit print. His picture shows up a bit darker than one would hope. One of my students apparently couldn't bear the thought of not seeing his face, so she gave him one of her own.
PS
Will thinks this post is rather old-school.That is F'n awesome...and kinda creepy at the same time.
Ditto machine...never heard that. We call it the Risograph.

Hahaha. I love it! I wish I could put it up on my wall.
