I've tried repeatedly to convince my first-year teacher of the importance of learning phonics when learning English. Usually my failure in this regard is utterly frustrating, but if it means that little Kazuyuki Miyamoto repeatedly writes his last name as "Miyamofo," I suppose I can't complain too much.
